Private or incognito mode mainly limits local history and cookies after the session. It does not make you invisible to websites, networks, employers, schools or internet providers.
Do Not Track is only a request. Sites are not universally required to honor it. Stronger protections come from cookie controls, tracker blocking, permission limits, identity separation and data minimization.

Supported devices may use Device Encryption, while BitLocker management is available on Pro, Enterprise and Education editions. Protection is strongest against offline access to a lost or stolen drive.

Store the recovery key somewhere separate from the computer.

  1. Keep the native baseline enabled.

    Turn on the device screen lock, updates and whole-drive encryption first. A private locker should add a boundary, not replace the controls that protect the entire device.

  2. Install the correct platform edition.
